Engine Will Not Start
- No fuel: Fill with fresh gasoline and avoid stale fuel older than 30 days.
- Choke setting: Set choke to full when cold starting; move gradually after engine starts.
- Spark plug: Remove, inspect, clean, gap, or replace if fouled or damaged.
- Primer not working: Press primer bulb 2–3 times for cold starts; check fuel line if bulb feels empty.
Auger Not Turning
- Broken belt: Inspect auger belt under the belt cover and replace if worn, loose, or snapped.
- Shear pins: On two-stage models, check auger shear pins and replace only with correct Toro parts.
- Cable adjustment: Adjust auger control cable if the handle engages but the auger does not spin.
Snow Blower Does Not Throw Snow Far
- Clogged chute: Shut engine off, remove key, wait for moving parts to stop, then clear chute with clean-out tool.
- Wet snow: Move slower and take narrower passes in heavy or slushy snow.
- Worn paddles: Replace rubber paddles or scraper bar on single-stage Power Clear models.
Drive System Problems
- No forward movement: Check traction cable, drive belt, friction disc, and wheel engagement pins.
- Slipping under load: Inspect drive belt tension and replace worn friction wheel components.
- Uneven tracking: Adjust tire pressure and verify both wheels are locked correctly.
Electric & Battery Models
- 60V battery not powering unit: Fully charge battery, clean terminals, and confirm battery is seated properly.
- Short run time: Use a fully charged high-capacity battery and avoid overloading in deep wet snow.
Safety note: Always shut off the engine, remove the key, disconnect the spark plug wire, or remove the battery before servicing. Never clear the chute by hand.
